love: 30 films from 2020 to 2023 I've watched and loved; & 13 films I'm looking forward to seeing next...
If you think you have exhausted all possible viewing material and are into art-house/sci-fi/adventure/mind-twisting indie productions like I am… you will appreciate this list.
Storytelling is woven through our threads of existence from our first moment and will continue, into our last.
Beginning as whispers in treetops between hairy brethren and then fire-side communion in tribal gatherings we now tell stories to share ideas, lessons and experiences through virtual enchantments composed by a small army of people with a vision to bring to our screens.
Storytelling is a fundamental part of being human.
Life and art are dependent on the stories we share with each other and the art of film has become a vital instrument in awakening us to, and emotionally connecting us with, a complex multitude of realities.
Never have I relied on film to connect me with the visions and ideas of others as much as I have the past few years. In a season of less in-person community and more introspective observations, films have carried me through some sad, lonely and disillusioned times.
I’ve shared some of my favourites before:
— My 2018 list of best indie movies for bed days
— 13 series & films to inspire the female entrepreneur inside you
— 33 + Three-Quarter Fantastic Films That Will Ignite Your Fantasy
This is a brand new list of films with trailers that have touched me and brought hope to my heart across 2020 to 2023. Carefully and constructed for you to share this visual storytelling journey with me.
Enjoy!
