my guide for cosy autumn/winter nights
for when you're feeling unmoored, in the in-between or uncentred (including a very specific guide to films & shows for when you're having a moment)
It’s Sunday evening and my entire body is tired but happy after hiking the cliffs all day long. I am sitting on a brown suede sofa in a quaintly decorated apartment, perched right in the town centre overlooking my favourite beach. It’s been over a week since my cat Danger and I moved in. We’ll be here until late April next year.
Beyond that? I don’t have a plan. Yet.
The past few months have felt like one of those washing machines with the see-through door — everything tumbling around wildly, except it’s my life, not laundry. I asked for adventure and I got it. Just...not in the way I’d envisioned.
It has taken longer than I’d hoped to calm my nervous system and soothe my adrenals after the sailing incident and the subsequent emergency exit into Portugal. My focus is to be clear, intentional and gentle for the last month of this year.
Here, the days are getting shorter. The skies hang heavy with grey, and though the temperatures remain muggy and warm, the air whispers of autumn turning to winter. Surprisingly, I’m leaning into this season’s slower pace — for perhaps the first time ever. The unmoored, in-between, uncentred feeling I’ve been carrying somehow fits the quiet pull of darker evenings and softer mornings. Resting into the void of winter feels...right.
Nonetheless, alongside embracing this cosy season, a lot is happening.
Professionally:
My private clients are growing in leaps and bounds. Watching them flourish is such a joy.
My annual business mentoring special is live for December (details at the end of this email!).
The January The Mentor Training cohort graduated, and the current group is already nearing the halfway mark of their journey. They’re a stellar group!
My stationery brand, Plannher, reopened its doors one last time for December. The fulfilment warehouse unearthed some extra boxes (I’m imagining an Indiana Jones-style discovery but with planners), so now’s your chance to grab one before they’re gone for good. Discounts apply for orders of three or more! Press reply me for details! (Wholesale orders are available too.)
I’m reimagining Her Way with big, exciting plans for next year to make it more accessible and impactful.
Mostly, I’m closing the loops to step into 2025 without any nagging remnants of unfinished business.
Personally:
I’ve been falling in love. More on that another time — it’s wildly time-consuming.)
And despite all this, what I want most is to savour this moment in time.
We’ve been making vegan apple galettes, sipping homemade hot chocolate, and watching films.
Speaking of which...
