truth: sisterhood wounds, rigged systems, integrity, duplicity, betrayal, professional failures and a new way forward
An exposé on the convergence between female relationships and symptoms of our capitalist society that leaves us impoverished in the areas that truly matter, and grasping for more from each other.
Every person and experience acts as a mirror of what is beautiful in yourself, and what is unresolved in yourself. We are continually being shown what to celebrate and what to work on.
I recently had a mini breakdown that left me feeling disheartened, confused and hurt. After several conflicts with female friends, a professional defeat, and absolute disenchantment with our society’s rigged capitalist systems I am left with a fire inside me that demands a pivot.
The contrast of despair is such a motivating factor for change.
Scene one:
After evading and ignoring me for a couple of months a long-term friend of mine left me a voice note complaining that she didn’t feel recognised for a short meditation she had contributed to one of my online self-study programs, in exchange for participating in the course for free.
When she brought my attention to this I immediately responded with apologies for any oversight, thanked her for opening up the conversation and asked her to talk it through so we could resolve the conflict. Over the months that followed she claimed not to have the time to discuss the situation yet continued to leave cutting, virtuous comments where she was the victim and I had done wrong by her.
It felt duplicitous as she is trying to make a name for herself as a meditation teacher in the ‘luxury wellness’ industry, which is a contradiction in itself because one’s connection within and to one’s spirit made accessible by practices such as mediation is a relationship between you and your inner world, not a problem with a solution to be sold and bought.
Her reaction has dual reasonings. Her own inner pattern and wounding around not feeling validated combined with her reasonable desire to be seen and renumerated for her work in the world.
Yet, like all of us, she is playing a game within a system that is rigged. Without us asking deeper questions about its integrity it will keep running as it is and suddenly every single thing that is pure in each of us becomes tangled with consumerism.
