It’s been 3 months since my last personal update.
There’s a soft hum rising out of the third-floor cafe/bookstore I am sitting in.
Heads huddled together in chatter, the coffee machine’s milk steamer, my sister-friend sitting opposite me tapping away at her keys. We are sharing still-warm sugar-coated roasted peanuts wrapped in newspaper by a street vendor that I have silently snuck upstairs with us.
Sticky fingers popping nut after nut into mouths between paragraphs on pages and sips of decaf coffee from our mugs.
The last time I wrote to you in this way I was in my final month in Africa. Since then I’ve written mostly stories.
9 to be exact:
you're right: whether you think there’s not enough... money/jobs/natural resources etc, or not, either way, you’re right…
the fuck-off fund: years of indoctrinated conditioning that says my worth is defined by my productivity so when I decided to pull back and work only 10 hours per week difficult, but my fuck off fund saved me.
destiny: there are countless moments where the hand of destiny reveals itself, often in ways we least expect, but destiny will not come meet you on the sofa. You must exercise your agency.
I don't care: a life-long lesson on detachment as taught to me by an Indian guru when I was 12 years old and the story of my very first own grown-up friend.
cadence: 28 hours in London, a date that was a hard "no", cackling like witches with my chosen sisters, the cadence of life, and 10 business tips from 10 years of working online.
cycle girlie: on metamorphosis and menstrual cycles and a magic little trick (a GIFT, for YOU!) to add the phases of your cycle to your calendar and sync to your work and life.
not yet: so often doing things that we don’t feel ‘ready’ for can bring up unresolved childhood trauma. So often on the other side of that fear exist the things we want for ourselves.
party girl era: he was right. I felt like a fallen angel gracing the earth that night.
the love list: every year or so, I update my “love list”: a window into the collection of things I love, tools, and products I use that I heartily recommend, plus more.
I’ve been attempting to write this note to you all day.
I keep starting and then deleting all the words over and over again. So much has happened and life is incredibly full and I don’t think I have integrated it all enough to write about.
The energy is wild today.
A coveted seat in the corner by the window is available. I make my move over until a man at the table next to the newly free space throws his things at it and yells at me. “I’ve been waiting here for ages!” Bewildered, I ask him if I can take the seat he is departing from to which he nods. 10 minutes later he packs up and leaves. He waited for ages to sit there for 10 minutes? I am confused. We move into our corner spot only to be attacked by a horde of French students who decide to pile around us talking loudly with annoyingly squeaky teenage enthusiasm. My friend sends me a video and as I click it open the bookstore fills with the sounds of children screaming coming from my phone. I glare at her across the table and she bursts out in laughter, gripped by giggles over my unfortunate disaster. Feeling an unusual sensation I reach down and touch my thigh to find my hand covered in blood. Aghast I ask her to bring me a napkin wondering if I cut myself on a chair without knowing.
Things simply aren’t flowing today in the way that I’d like them to.
That’s ok. Sometimes the kindest thing I can do is give myself grace, meet myself and life where it is at, accept its imperfections and that my best is enough.
I’ll write my personal life update to you another day.
Let me leave you with a few work-related updates that are close to my heart.
— I have 2 business mentoring and 3 soul mentoring spaces available this month.
Soul mentoring is a sacred container for listening to what your soul is calling you to work within your life. The process is distinct from therapy or aim-focused mentoring in that there are no defined goals or outcomes, nothing to be fixed or resolved. What remains is a deepening of attention to recognise what has been there all along, often unseen, obscured by the intensity of modern living. I will guide you through them but your soul will show us where she wants us to shine light and awareness. Learn more here.
Business mentoring covers all the emotional, psychological and practical aspects with a holistic overview to meet your aims as we create a new way of starting or growing your business together.
Business mentoring with me includes:
Email or WhatsApp/Telegram support to share wins and ask questions that will propel you forward. This additional support is incredibly powerful when maximised (often acting as ‘extra sessions’) so I encourage you to do so.
Review and feedback on written materials — sales pages, website copy, services packages, sales funnels, social media posts, creative business ideas and programs. You get my eyes and feedback on all of it.
Planning/strategy and resources tailored to your vision and aims.
